Is it permissible to apply false nails and is the income from doing so halal?
QUESTION:
I was just wondering if doing acrylic – false nails on other people is allowed. I was thinking to do a small business with this. But I have heard from friends that it may be haram. I’m not too sure about this?
ANSWER:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
To apply such nails is contrary to the general teachings and culture of Islam, namely, ensuring the regular clipping of the nails [1], and thus, they must be refrained from. Accordingly, any related business must also be avoided. [2]
Mufti Radha’ al-Haqq (May Allah preserve him) has stated in Fatāwa Dar al-Uloom Zakariyya:
بطور فیشن ایسے لمبے ناخن لگانا اسلامی تہذیب کے خلاف ہوگا، جس کی اجازت نہیں
“To apply such long nails, as fashion, is contrary to Islamic culture, for which [accordingly] there is no allowance.” [3]
Similarly, Mufti Salman Mansūrpuri (May Allah preserve him) has stated in Kitab al-Nawazil:
مصنوعی ناخون لگوانا شریعت میں جائز نہیں ہے، اسلام میں ناخون کاٹنے کا حکم ہے نہ کہ انہیں بڑھانے کا ، اور جب اصلی ناخنوں کو بڑھانا ممنوع ہے تو مصنوعی ناخنوں کی کیسے اجازت ہو سکتی ہے۔
“It is not permissible in shari’ah to apply artificial nails. Islam instructs to clip the nails [to the minimum], not to lengthen them. And when shari’ah prohibits lengthening actual nails, then how can there be any allowance for artificial nails?!” [4]

واضح ہو کہ اپنی ڈاڑھی مونڈنا یا ایک مشت سے کم کرنا حرام ہے ایسے ہی دوسرے کی ڈاڑھی مونڈنا مقدار مذکورہ سے کم کرنا بھی حرام ہے، ڈاڑھی مونڈنے کی اجرت وصول کرنا بھی حرام ہے، لہذا بار بری کا پیشہ اختیار کرنے والے اپنی روزی حرام نہ کریں۔ دونوں ہاتھوں کے گناہوں میں سے عورت کے سر کے بال یا مرد کی ڈاڑھی کا مونڈنا اور مٹھی سے کم کا تر اشنا ہے چاہے یہ مونڈنا اور کترنا اس مرد یا عورت کی اجازت ہی کیوں نہ ہو کیونکہ گناہ کے کام میں مدد کرنا ہے اور بھی گناہ ہے۔

جو چیزیں بذات خود نا جائز ہیں، ان کی خرید و فروخت بھی نا جائز ہے
