QUESTION:

I am a good muslim. My son has been trying to get a job of his dream. It is a very tough position to get. He has been trying hard but now fully demotivated by some failures. In this circumstances i am very tensed. I wanted to connect with god. I asked god through ishtikhara prayer the question whether my son will get his dream job or not. Then i went to sleep. I woke for tahajjud and after subahi i fell asleep there. Then i saw a dream of a tree fully covered with fruits and flowers and somebody was giving me a basket full of those fruits. It was very beautiful tree completely covered with fruits and flowers. I didn’t take that as a response of ishtikhara but later when i read a book it said that for positive response allah would show good omens such a trees with flowers fruits. Is this true? I am asking because it seems ways to my so’s dreams are getting narrower or even nill. Expecting your answer

ANSWER:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

This is a good dream and should be taken as a good omen. However, it does not necessitate that one immediately sees the effects of one’s dream, for Allah Ta’ālā is undoubtedly the All-Wise and All-Knowing and thus, he favours us in accordance to what/when is best for us. Hence, one should refrain from losing hope and becoming discouraged, for indeed a believer never becomes discouraged from the mercy of Allah. Furthermore, one should always aspire to live a life of contentment and simplicity. The Prophet (peace be upon him) has said:

ليس الغنى عن كثرة العرض، ولكن الغنى غنى النفس
Translation: “Wealth is not in having many possessions, but rather (true) wealth is feeling contentment in one’s soul.” [1]

Lastly, we advise that you and your son recite the following supplication three times in the morning and three times during the evening:

بِسمِ اللَّهِ على ديني ونَفسي وَوَلدي وأَهلي وَمالي
Transliteration: Bismillahi ‘ala deenee wa nafsee wa waladee wa ahlee wa malee
Translation: [I seek protection] “With the name of Allah for my religion, myself, my children, my family and my wealth” [2]

May Allah Ta’ālā remove your sorrows and grant you and your family happiness. Āmeen.

And Allah Ta’ālā Knows Best
Abdullah Teladia
